Joseph O'Brien completed a double at Dundalk today as his San Andreas bolted up when landing the concluding Crowne Plaza Dundalk Race & Stay Handicap, thus providing the trainer's cousin and jockey Hugh Horgan with a second career win.

Horgan, a son of former jump jockey Trevor Horgan, steered his first winner on O'Brien's Rockfish at tonight's venue in April and today made sure of victory on the heavily backed San Andreas, a son of Dark Angel, which was supported on track from 11/2 to 100/30.

The ex-Ballydoyle trained four year old went well clear of his rivals in the home straight and in the end passed the line a full six and a half lengths ahead of runner-up Spiorad Saoirse

Afterwards O'Brien's assistant Brendan Powell reported “we were worried about him getting the trip but Hugh obviously thought he would do.

“Maybe he thought they weren't going quick enough but the horse settled away in front and he stayed on well.

“He's got plenty of ability. In his last two runs he's run genuine races and he's a genuine horse. It's nice to see him get his head in front.

“That's Hugh's second winner so it's lovely for him and he's in the yard every day.”

Trainer O'Brien's earlier winner was with the Mikey Sheehy partnered Crossfirehurricane
