The Ger O'Leary trained Jan Van Eyck gained a first win since completing a hat-trick of wins in the 2013 campaign at Dundalk this evening, landing the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Apprentice Handicap under apprentice jockey Ross Coakley.

The son of Raven's Pass was claimed by O'Leary, for E15,000, following his Navan Claimer win in June 2013 and while he added Wexford and Tramore wins in the following months, subsequently missed all of 2014.

Jan Van Eyck was today having his seventh run of 2015 and following the win, jockey Coakley stated "he ran well the last few times on grass when drawn wide. I had to sit in and he came home well. It was on my mind to get a better position today.

"He stays well, and the handicapper gave him a chance."
