Jack hits The Wire in front to land gamble Jack The Wire justified strong support to take the concluding p2p.ie (C & G) Point-to-Point bumper at Tipperary. The Scorpion gelding was available at 11/2 this morning, and backed down further on track from 7/2 into 9/4 but still had a solid 5/6 favourite in Knocknanuss to beat. The Mick Winters-trained favourite set the pace under the handler's nephew Finny Maguire but was headed by Jack The Wire two furlongs out. Denis Hogan's charge found plenty under pressure for John O'Meara to score by four and a half lengths, with Petethepear another six and a half length back in third. Hogan said, "I bought him at the Derby Sale in 2013 and then 'forgot' about him for a year. I was going through the motions before bringing him to his point-to-point at Dromahane where I thought I'd be happy if he placed, but he won. "He has a very big engine and is owned by my parents Martin and Mary. I might have a job convincing them not to sell but he's a horse I'd obviously love to keep in the yard. It's good horses I want."
