HRI has confirmed its Media Rights Committee is entering into negotiations for Irish horseracing’s media rights for the period 2024-28, with the deal likely to involve the continuation of RacingTV's coverage.
Following approval from Ireland's racecourses and HRI, Sports Information Services (SIS) and Racecourse Media Group (RMG) have been selected as preferred bidders. Negotiations will now take place and HRI has stated it will make no comment during this period.
RacingTV's parent company Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has held the media rights since 2017, in a deal understood to be worth about €40 million a year to Irish racing. Prior to that Irish racing was free on the Attheraces channel, now known as Sky Sports Racing.
The deal, which is hoped will be agreed by Christmas, means Irish racing will continue its direct-to-home coverage remains on the pay-per-view Racing TV channel until the end of 2028.
