Over 5,000 enthusiasts are expected to attend this year’s Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM) Irish Stallion Trail with a record 37 stallion farms opening their gates to the public next week on January 12 and 13.

Ballylinch, Boardsmill, Castlehyde, Coolmore, Derrinstown, Irish National Stud, Kildangan, Rathasker, Rathbarry and Yeomanstown are among the many renowned farms taking part in the two-day event which is free to attend.

“This is the tenth edition of the ITM Stallion Trail and is a national showcase for thoroughbred breeding in Ireland,” said ITM’s Marketing Executive Alex Cairns.

“It’s a great opportunity for breeders to view stallions in a convivial atmosphere with like-minded people ahead of the covering season but it also allows racing fans to get up close to these great champions and help to deepen their interest.

“There will be people from Ireland, Britain and further afield in attendance.”

He added, “Irish stallions have sired Group 1 Flat winners in ten countries in 2023 plus winners at all the big National Hunt Festivals like Constitution Hill (by Blue Bresil) and Facile Vega (by Walk In The Park).

You can contact [email protected] for further information or register your interest to visit any of the farms on the website ITM.ie/stalliontrail.

It is compulsory to register prior to visiting Coolmore Stud due to the high interest in the global giant.
