John McConnell has identified a couple of options in Britain for Grand Soir who has won his last three starts over hurdles.

The seven-year-old French-bred gelding began his winning run in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle in August before following up in rated novice hurdles at Cork and Thurles in October and December respectively. All three successes came over staying trips.

“He might go for the River Don (Novices' Hurdle) next week in Doncaster and, if he doesn't go there, he'll go to Musselburgh for the stayers' trial," the trainer said.

“He's a lovely horse and he's in great nick.”
