Jockey Pat Shanahan, fresh from two winners in Serbia recently - including a win in that country's Derby, recorded a double at The Curragh today, completing his brace on impressive winner Arctic in the Listed Grangecon Stud Stakes.
Arctic, a winner on his debut at Bellewstown earlier this month, quickly stretched clear of five rivals in today's race, winning effortlessly by five lengths.
Afterwards winning trainer Tracey Collins stated "Arctic is a very well bred horse and has plenty of ability. We had to bring him to Bellewstown, which wasn't ideal for him, in order to get him a run today but he learned a lot from the experience. His owner, Richard Pegun from Australia, bought Arctic just two weeks ago."
She added "we had originally planned to run Arctic in the Marble Hill Stakes and then bring him to Goodwood but my horses had been out of form so we shelved that plan. "
