David Marnane and Colm O'Donoghue teamed up for a quick double at Tipperary as Aragorn Icon got a peach of a ride to land the jogforjockeys.ie Handicap over an extended seven furlongs.
The four-year-old gelding was locked on the inside rail from her number one draw but O'Donoghue, successful half-an-hour earlier on Jamesie and now on the 15 winner mark for the season, smartly weaved a route through to lead a furlong out.
The 5/1 second favourite soon asserted to record a convincing two length victory over Elusive Moon (25/1), with Gagnant (12/1) another length and a quarter back in third.
Marnane said, “He's been knocking on the door, and in fairness is a horse that's had some horrible draws. He'd a good draw today. We'll see what the handicapper does but he'll probably go to Killarney next month.”
