Hussey’s persistence on God pays off The subject of a big gamble when only sixth at Leopardstown on Champion Stakes Day, Aidan O'Brien's Rain God benefitted from a serious drive from Mick Hussey in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden at Dundalk. Blinkered now for the first time, Rain God didn't go without support again, finding an SP of 11/4 from 9/2 this morning. As things heated-up inside the final quarter mile it looked as if favourite Tiger Stripes would go on and beat Rain God. However Hussey wasn't taking no for an answer from the Henrythenavigator colt and he powered him home by three parts of a length from the dead-heating pair, Breccbennach (came home well) and the aforementioned market-leader Tiger Stripes (had every chance). This was Hussey's first winner for Ballydoyle. Meanwhile it was a second winner from three races for the formscans on this website. (GC & EM)
