Gordon Elliott's Howdyalikeherhome made light of a second race in 24 hours to prevail in the Fast As Fibrus Novice Handicap Hurdle over 2m6f in Down Royal.

The 7/2 shot raced close to the pace and disputed the lead with Tell Nobody Nothin (4/1) two out. He led narrowly over the last and kept on well to beat that rival by a length and a-quarter.

Assistant trainer Lisa O'Neill said: "It was (fine weight-carrying performance) in fairness to him.

"He looked much more comfortable over that longer distance.

"In fairness to him, he has toughed it out really well because it is a quick turnaround from yesterday as well (fourth in Bellewstown).

"It was a nice opportunity for him, so didn't want to let it go astray. Fair play to Ed (Mulligan, owner), he was confident to take a chance again today.

"He's a grand horse and hopefully he will be able to step forward and build on that. Obviously, we will see what way he comes out of today and give him a little bit of a break maybe between his races now after two quick runs.

"He seemed to handle the ground quite well, so it will create loads of options for him over the summer months as well which is a big thing."
