The €100,000 Tote Pick 6 guarantees offer a fantastic opportunity to Tote Punters over both days of Irish Champions Weekend as both are rather untypical Pick 6 cards due to the proliferation of small field conditions races. This means less uncertainty and a higher reward and it really is a weekend to be willing to spend a little more to offer greater coverage in the knowledge that, if successful, you will be met with a likely handsome dividend. Even if you are unwilling to spend a little more, do make sure that you are willing to spend something as it is a rare opportunity that the ‘Small Stakes Big Win’ bet offers this much to punters. You can play the bet online at thetotewww.thetote.com, at the racecourse or in any Paddy Power or Ladbrokes shop.

As with every multi leg pool you need to be disciplined to avoid indulgence and be somewhat guided by the probability of the numbers as guided by the likely SP of the horses you select. I will take an in depth look at Leopardstown on Saturday and try and extract a suggested perm that can lead you towards a big dividend and a slice of the €100,000 guarantee. The card features 4 conditions races, a maiden and a handicap and can be disected to present an opportunity. I will present a table that shows three potential spends depending on your budget. For the benefit of analysis I will outline the largest spending permutation when detailing the races and also give the indicative % chance of finding the winner with those selections.

Leg 1 is a 7f Fillies Maiden and is one of the trickier races but don’t let that scare you – stick with the tried and tested rule of the big stables and include Wedding Vow, Pivotique and Stellar Glow. Tamadhor floundered on soft ground last time and on a return to a quick surface is also worthy of inclusion. Whilst prices are uncertain at this point it looks as if these 4 provide a c.65% chance of finding the winner.

Leg 2 is a 1m Group 3 for 2yos and has just the seven runners and looks ripe for a banker selection in the shape of the highly touted and hugely promising John F Kennedy. The temptation would be to include others but at current odds this selection represents a c.70% chance of finding the winner and therefore represents banker material.

Leg 3 is a tricky 14f handicap and we will need some cover in this leg. The shortlist centres around the front end of the market. Wexford Town, Digeanta, Toe The Line, Spacious Sky, Silwana and Pyromaniac all merit inclusion. At likely odds this represents a c.65% chance of finding the winner

Leg 4 is the Enterprise Stakes over 10f that present a challenge as we are asked to believe that Free Eagle who has been off the track for a year is worthy of being an odds on favourite. We do know that Dermot Weld is a master at returning horses after a layoff and for that reason he must be included. Hall Of Mirrors has run his way into form over the trip and as second favourite merits inclusion, Chance To Dance has been hugely progressive and will relish the quick ground while Prince Of All is a promising young horse having his first run in the famous colours so is worthy of the upmost respect. Combined this represents a c.80% of finding the winner.

Leg 5 is the Group 1 Matron Stakes over a mile for the best fillies and mares in training. An important factor here is the quick ground. The front three in the betting namely Tapestry, Rizeena and Fiesolana are worthy of instant inclusion and represent a c.70% chance of finding the winner so we should be content with relying on just them.

Leg 6 is a Group 2 mile race and the wonderful Gordon Lord Byron is the first name on the team sheet. Jersey Stakes winner Mustajeeb also gets the nod as does Darwin who most recently chased home Kingman in a return to form after a period in the wilderness attempting to be a sprinter. Ryan Moore rather than Seamie Heffernan rides the O’Brien outsider, Michaelmas, which causes me to sit up and take note and as the horse is running his way into form I will also give him the nod. Combined these represent a c.80% chance of finding the winner.

Remember you can play for as little as 50cent per permutation and you can play online at thetotewww.thetote.com, at the racecourse or in any Paddy Power or Ladbrokes shop. Multiply your stake by your total permutations to see the cost.
