Unterberg got on top close home, in the first division of the mile-and-a-half handicap, to give Laura Hourigan another winner at Dundalk this month.
The Limerick handler had struck with Notforalongtime earlier in the month and saddled back-to-back winners thanks to the New Bay gelding.
Oisin McSweeney produced the 13/2 shot to challenge on the near side at the furlong marker and he got on top close home to beat Spinning Web by half a length.
Unterberg was making his fourth outing for Hourigan and had shown improved form to finish third, under Seamie Heffernan, on his last visit to the track.
McSweeney said: "I spoke to Seamie beforehand and he filled me full of confidence.
"He has galloped all the way to the line for me, Laura said she had done plenty of work with him at home very day. He jumps a hurdle too, so he was going to see it out well.
"There was a nice gallop on, so it suited me down to the ground."
On his own year, he added: "It has been a fantastic year, I've ridden plenty of winners and I think one of them wasn't here. I don't mind where they are, I'm just happy to ride them.
"I'll work away in Danny Murphy's (until Dundalk resumes on 12th January), he has hit the ground running. The yard is really filling up, so it is great."
