Hogan starts new chapter with Sligo double Sceptical's trainer Denis Hogan moved to a new stage of his career by announcing his retirement from race-riding with a win on Bua Boy at Galway last Thursday and the same horse provided the trainer with the second leg of a timely double at Sligo today. Star sprinter Sceptical's tragic death yesterday was a hammer blow for the trainer who spoke philosophically about the loss today, having won an earlier maiden hurdle with Royal Aide. Bua Boy was Hogan's final ride in an 18 year riding career at Galway and today completed consecutive wins, this time ridden by Royal Aide's jockey Donagh Meyler, in the Kevin Egan Cars Handicap Hurdle. Regarding Bua Boy, trainer Hogan stated “he made hard work of it; even though he won well in Galway he still had a race so we'll take our time now and we'll probably park him up until Listowel. "Donagh gave him a lovely ride, he didn't panic when he was under pressure down the bottom. "He needed every yard of the trip and wouldn't have won over two miles here today. "He's a chaser in the making.” Quotes from Mark Nunan
