Hoban strong on Certerach Conor Hoban gave Certerach a strong drive to land the spoils in the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk. The Halling gelding was produced with a surge inside the final furlong to collar Super Say. He kept that rival at bay close home to record a half-length success in the colours of Paul Rooney. The Mick Halford-trained gelding was well-backed, from 8/1 in the morning into 9/2 favourite on course, to record his first success since landing a Clonmel maiden last year. "Conor gave him a good ride and the 5lb was a big help," said Halford. "He's a decent horse and versatile trip wise as he ran well over 1m6f last time. He's a lovely genuine horse and he had a lovely draw tonight. "We'll see what the handicapper does. There might be a race back here for him next month. "If he goes up enough in the handicap he could go to the Dubai Carnival. He'll love the sun on his back." (On course reporting by Michael Graham)
