Aidan O'Brien's Hms Endeavour got off the mark on second start in Navan's extended five furlong maiden for juveniles.

He improved from a third place on debut at Naas last month.

The War Front colt picked up an early lead under Seamie Heffernan and travelled well a quarter of a mile out.

He was ridden to assert coming to the final furlong and soon did just that. Pirate Jenny came home strongly on debut to cut into the lead and got to within half a length of the winner at the line.

The winner was returned 3/1 co favourite from Pirate Jenny who was backed down to co favouritism and doubtless went into many notebooks. Third-placed Red Lacewing also showed ability when finishing nicely on debut at 18/1.

“He's very well-bred and he's got a lot of boot,” said Heffernan.

“He ran well the first day and hopefully he'll keep progressing, he gave me a lovely feel. He's not short of ability.”
