The 5/4 favourite Hiawatha landed the opening two-year-old maiden with the minimum of fuss under Ryan Moore.
Runner-up on his first two starts at Killarney and Galway, the Camelot colt made all and had the race in safe keeping over a furlong from home. He stayed on well to account for Fleetfoot who just got the better of Sea Legend for second spot.
Three and a half lengths was the margin of victory for the winner who has a host of big-race entries in the autumn.
Winning trainer Aidan O’Brien, “He came forward from his first two runs. We thought he’d win his first two runs but he was very babyish and Ryan said he still is.
“The wind is coming across and a bit behind so it’s not interfering with them.
“He’s a fine big horse and should progress from two to three. He’s in the Goffs Million Sales race (on September 24).”
