Ken Condon saddled a 1-2 in the Racing Again 26th August Nursery Handicap at Tipperary but not as most would have expected with complete outsider Heytesbury Lane scoring at 14/1.
Condon’s other runner Harmony Rose (11/4) travelled strongly throughout and looked the one to beat when striking the front a furlong out.
However, Heytesbury Lane showed a great attitude under Niall McCullagh and finished best on the stands' side rail to beat her stablemate by half-a-length, with Caleta Sunrise the same distance back in third.
Condon said, “She appreciates slow ground and even softer than this would suit her going forward. Six furlongs and soft ground could be ideal.
“She had a lovely first run at Naas in a maiden that is working out and then we ran her back a week later in a Group 3 which was probably asking a bit much. The ground was gone a bit quick last time at Down Royal.
“That was great today and hopefully she can built from this.
“Harmony Rose did nothing wrong and is a real sweet filly that has been here four times and has run well each time. That was a big run off a big weight and I’m delighted with her as well.”
