Trainer Eddie Harty is already looking towards next season for his Harvard Gut which this season has won three of his four races and remains a promising chasing prospect for next term.

The J.P. McManus-owned six-year-old won three consecutive handicap hurdles in November, December and January - with the latest two being achieved at Listed level, but the trainer was left frustrated by a recent Clonmel defeat at Grade 3 level in the Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle on February 15.

Harty reports “it was a mess of a race the last day in Clonmel. It ended up being a two-furlong sprint and in a case like that, he who sprints first wins (Search For Glory).

“He’s achieved a lot and has done more this season than most horses do in a lifetime.

“He’s a chaser in the making. I wouldn’t be concerned if he didn’t run again and we could give him a long break and go chasing next season.”
