Harley brothers land gamble at Lingfield Sovento came from last to first to land a big gamble at Lingfield this afternoon winning division one of the totepool Handicap for the Harley brothers from Letterkenny, trainer Shaun and rider Martin. Having opened this morning at 9/2 the 7yo son of Kornado was backed all the way into 15/8 favourite at the off. After breaking slowly from the stalls his rider was happy to settle him last of the thirteen runners. As they raced towards the straight he was still travelling well but had most of the field in front of him as he searched for a gap. In the early straight the field spread out with Sovento moved right for room before staying on strongly inside the final furlong, going on to win by a neck under a brilliantly timed ride from Martin Harley. The German bred gelding was recording his third career success this afternoon, with his other two victories coming last year at Hamilton and Kempton. The other Irish raider in the race The Catenian for Eoin Doyle and Jimmy Quinn was friendless in the market and went to post at 16/1 but still managed to run a nice race finishing fourth.
