Halpin rides out claim on Regem Gary Halpin rode out his claim when successful on the odds-on Regem in the Budweiser Maiden over an extended 1m3f at Roscommon. Halpin’s 95th career winner was as straight forward as they come as the 4/6 shot made all the running. The son of Frankel drew clear inside the final quarter mile to beat Eirene Wind by seven and a half lengths, with Desert Grey another length and three quarters away in third. Winning trainer John Feane said, “He was entitled to do that and we think he stays really well. There are handicaps in Galway or the Queens Plate in Down Royal but he wants really fast ground. “He has a bit of class but we’ll see what the handicapper does and we’ll make a plan.”
