Halford's dream run continues with Dabadiyan Dabadiyan added to the impressive recent record of local trainer Michael Halford when justifying favouritism in the concluding TRM Supporting Global Champions Maiden, the fifth successful “jolly” on the afternoon at headquarters. Halford has now sent out seven winners in the past 11 days, and those who made the Aga Khan home-bred son of Zamindar the 9/10 favourite had few worries. The giant three-year-old travelled well throughout for Declan McDonogh, and quickly settled the issue when sent on around the furlong pole. He stretched right away inside the final furlong to beat the front-running Waver (2/1) by four and three quarter lengths, with Alkali (6/1) another three quarters of a length away in third. Halford said, “He’s a lovely big horse who settles well, quickens up and has loads of scope. He improved a lot from his last run. “He’s huge and has just taken time to come to himself. He’ll go forward from here and, for a big horse, he loves that ground.” McDonogh was completing a double on the day having earlier won the sprint handicap aboard Regal Power.
