Hairy Molly set for chase debut at Gowran

Former Cheltenham bumper winner Hairy Molly is set to make his debut over fences at Gowran Park on Saturday.

Joe Crowley´s charge, successful at the festival in 2006, has not been seen since finishing midfield in the Brit Insurance Novice Hurdle last year.

"More than likely he will go. The plan is to run," said Crowley´s assistant Damian Byrne.

"He done a suspensory at Cheltenham last year and was done for that after. We have just given him plenty of time but he´s ready to run now.

"He schooled at the Curragh on Friday and we were very happy with him so the plan is to go as long as the ground isn´t too bad. We wouldn´t want to start him off on soft to heavy ground."

A return to Cheltenham this season appears unlikely for the son of Shernazar due to a lack of experience over fences.

"He´s entered in the SunAlliance at Cheltenham but I don´t think we would have enough time to get there.

"We couldn´t go to Cheltenham on the back of just one run over fences. He may go to Punchestown as that gives him an extra month.

"We´ll just get Saturday out of the way and then see. He´s in good form."
