Former Champion Jockey Declan McDonogh recorded his ninth winner of the season when steering the Kevin Prendergast trained Gypsy Rose to win the Cahir Handicap at Clonmel today.
McDonogh raced the daughter of Noverre prominently throughout but eventually needed all of the jockey’s strength to win get her head in front close home, for a head win over Lombrici
Prendergast was not present for the win.
The race was marred by the fatal injury suffered by well backed 7/4f His Way (injured three furlongs out) while the money for Memories Of You (5/1 - 9/4) also went astray, eventually finishing fifth.
