Emily Upjohn is set to run in Saturday's Cairn Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh as the John Gosden-trained dual Group 1 winner bids to improve from a recent run in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
Winner of the 2022 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes race and the 2023 Coronation Cup, the five-year-old mare was well held behind winner Luxembourg at Epsom on May 31 but trainer Gosden expects a better showing at the Curragh.
Gosden reports “we trained her in the winter to go to Dubai — it doesn't agree with a lot of fillies so then I let her down afterwards through April and she really did herself well.
“I was having trouble getting her back in the zone again and she very much needed her race in the Coronation as she was carrying plenty weight and condition. She worked well on the July course yesterday so we'll head there it what looks like being a very competitive edition of the Pretty Polly.”
Emily Upjohn had headed antepost markets for Saturday's race, having being the 7/4 favourite with Paddy Power.
