Good To Be Alive gives Bective a second breeding success Gordon Elliott’s newcomer Good To Be Alive (9/1) caused a mild surprise in winning on debut today, scoring a second breeding-success for Noel & Valerie Moran’s Bective Stud, in Fairyhouse's Book Your Hospitality Maiden Hurdle. Bective Stud’s first homebred victor The Yellow Clay gave his owners a Grade 1 success at Naas last month and today, with 34 days to Cheltenham and a fine stretch in the evenings, Good To Be Alive scored in a useful manner. Strong favourite Legionnaire Forez (4/9f) faded tamely from the third-last flight in the race, with winner Good To Be Alive improving to lead under jockey Sam Ewing at the last, eventually scoring by six lengths. Elliott reported “he’s a home-bred and we thought he was a bit weak so he’ll probably come on a bit from the run today but it was nice to win. He’s a horse that’s improving and he might not be the worst horse in the world. “It’s not ideal winning a maiden hurdle at this time of the year but it’s still not a bad complaint. We’ll have to try and find a novice hurdle for him somewhere.” Quotes from Gary Carson
