Niall McCullagh produced Thegondolier with a late charge to land the two-year-old claimer at Sligo.
Patrick Prendergast 's charge finished to good effect in the final furlong to get up at the death and just deny Knock Stars Proper Madam was just a neck back in third in a tight finish.
"The cut in the ground really helped and he needs the blinkers," said Prendergast.
"He used to work well in the spring but I ended up gelding him. I was hoping to win a little nursery with him.
"I don't think the handicapper will be too hard as he woudn't be impressed too much with that race.
"It's job done. I love winning at Sligo - it's a lovely place. My mother, who owns him, is from Ballymote. So the pressure was on today!"
