Daryl Jacob broken new ground by partnering Gold Cup Bailly to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.
The multiple Grade 1 winning pilot, who is originally from just outside Enniscorthy, was registering his first success at his local racecourse on what was remarkably his first ride at the venue.
The winner of a point-to-point on debut at Tattersalls in December of 2020, the Stuart Crawford trained chestnut was placed on his first two track starts, disappointing on his most recent effort at Carlisle.
Sent off an easy-to-back 7/1 chance this afternoon, the son of Turgeon was settled in mid-division in the early stages and wasn't fluent at the second.
Much closer in third with a circuit to race, he was sent to the front before two out and soon went a few lengths clear.
Kept up to his work on the run-in, the Simon Muir and Isaac Soude owned victor came home three-and-a-half lengths to the good from The Folkes Tiara (15/8f) and Rachael Blackmore in second. Fameaftertheglory (11/2 to 4/1) completed the places just half-a-length back in third.
Jacob said in the aftermath: "It's nice to come home. I only live half-an-hour down the road. It's my first ride here and my first winner so we will take that! I obviously led-up a lot here for Dessie Hughes.
"He has been ready to run for a while now. Stuart has had him ready but he just hasn't run because of the ground and various different things.
"We were second to Ahoy Senor in a novice hurdle at Ayr and still to this day I can't believe I got beaten on him that day!
"He has got ability, he is a lovely horse and chasing was always going to be his game. It was a pleasing performance. The ground is heavy but it's lovely and loose.
"The ring-rustiness will come out of him after today and he will definitely be sharper the next day."
