The cancellation of today’s meeting at the Curragh means there is no Irish racing for a third successive day while tomorrow’s meeting at Clonmel will be subject to an early morning inspection due to the threat of flooding.

Across the Irish Sea, Fontwell and Worcester, where John McConnell and Anthony McCann were both due to have runners, have become the latest victims of the wet spell of weather.

The upcoming two-day fixture at Cheltenham on Friday/Saturday looks sure to provide plenty of Irish interest while Diego Velazquez bids to bolster Aidan O’Brien’s already great record in the Group 1 Kameko Futurity Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday.

Back on the domestic front, Sligo reports the going as soft, yielding in places, ahead of their meeting on Friday following a further 12mm of rain since entries.

Galway commences a three-day bank holiday meeting on Saturday and the going at the western venue is currently soft (NH) and heavy (Flat).

Wexford host a two-day meeting on Sunday and Monday and the going is currently described as heavy.

The weather forecast remains unsettled this week.
