20/1 shot Glamorously lunged late to land the spoils in a dramatic renewal of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas this afternoon.
It looked an unlikely victory at most stages of the contest for the Jessica Harrington-trained filly as she missed the kicked slightly and got a slight bump leaving the stalls.
She was soon pushed along in rear and Nathan Crosse was asking his mount for an effort again passing the halfway point where Gold Coast Galleon clipped heels on her inner and fell.
Thankfully both horse and jockey were quickly back on their feet.
At the head of affairs Back Down Under looked to have done enough inside the final furlong when repelling the challenge of Ocean Baroque but Crosse got a great tune from Glamorously late on as she got up close home to register a three-parts-of-a-length win.
Harrington said afterwards:- “She battled the last day and she really battled today. She was under pressure a long way out.
“Blinkers have made a big difference to her. She seems to be one of those tough Mehmas’ that just love it.
“We’ll see if there is another nursery for her and judging by that she will go seven. She needed every yard of it today.”
