Glam Gerry available at double figure odds in the morning, justified good support on his handicap debut when taking the New Tote Daily Double Handicap Hurdle under Mark Walsh.
The Colm Murphy-trained gelding quickened to lead approaching the final flight, although the 7/1 chance needed to be driven right out by Walsh on the run-in to repel the renewed effort of Bruach Na Mara (9/1) by half a length. Golan Guy (9/1) could find no extra on the run-in but kept on one paced to finish a further two and a half lengths back in third, with 6/1 favourite Mubrook fourth.
Colm Murphy said, "It was a big enough ask today but the penny is beginning to drop with him now and he's improving with each run. We'll see what the handicapper does now. To be honest anything over hurdles is a bonus with him as he looks a chaser for next year."
