The Jessie Harrington trained Sandymount Lady came out best of a driving finish to land the Motivate Challenge Supporting Barrettstown Maiden Hurdle under Barry Geraghty.
Geraghty who produced the 11/10 favourite to lead at the last had to work hard close home to hold off the challenges of stablemate Common Alliance and Spill The Beans from the Henry de Bromhead stable.
Emma Harrington daughter of winning trainer commented: “The owner Eugene Bergin is leasing this horse from Ron Wood for the Summer, so it’s nice start for them.”
“It was great to get the win under her belt, we were nearly beaten by our outsider which was a bit of a surprise.”
“She will mix it over hurdles on the flat for the rest of the Summer.”
