Flemenstorm landed a gamble under Chris Timmons for the Eddie Cawley yard, doing the honours for favourite backers in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase at Punchestown.
Backed from 5/1 into 3/1 on course, and bigger earlier, the Flemensfirth gelding added to his Fairyhouse hurdling gains from December 19th with a four and a half length win.
The eight-year-old goes about the job in an usual way, swishing his tail and seeming green on the run-in (his tenth outing at this stage) but it looked as though there was plenty left in the locker as the hooded runner crossed the line from Sunsetstorise
Cawley said: "He jumped brilliant, and I've always felt that he'd be a bit better over fences than hurdles. Maybe we'll step him up a bit in trip.
"He doesn't do a whole lot in front. We'll find a three-miler for him somewhere."
Flemenstorm is owned and was bred by Cawley's cousin Bernadette Colleary.
