Pat Flynn’s Mamma Rosa landed a gamble when forging clear in the one mile fillies’ handicap at Listowel in the hands of Danny Grant.
The three-year-old in first-time blinkers was backed by early-bird punters this morning at 6/1 into 4/1. She was then supported from an opening show of 9/2 on course down to 100/30 favouritism.
Jockey Grant pushed her up to join front-runner Miranda’s Girl at the home turn and the duo powered away to win by three lengths from Shirley Blake (13/2).
Tommy Stack’s Sikara stayed on eyecatchingly from off the pace into third place at 9/1.
In-form Pat Flynn was ecstatic after the victory and said: “I’m delighted for the owner Tom Cahill who is one of my long-standing owners.
“She should have won her last two starts but she was looking around her. If she had blinkers on she would have won.
“I said in an Irish Field stable tour a while back that I think she could make a listed filly. She's a very nice talented filly.
"She'll get a mile and two and maybe further."
