Ger Lyons has his horse in great form at present and the Co Meath handler was on the scoresheet again at Roscommon this evening as the gambled on Angela’s Dream took the ITBA Western Region Fillies Handicap under Colin Keane.
Available at 10/1 in a place this morning, the daughter of Chineur opened on-course at just 7s before being well-supported into 9/2 at the off.
The three-year-old filly made all the running and she kept on well in the home straight, just holding off the late surge of the 3/1 favourite One True Love (Joseph O’Brien up) by a short head. Conversational finished a further three parts of a length back in third under Connor King for Andrew Oliver at 11/1. Hat-trick seeking Legal Lyric was the 5/2 morning favourite but she was friendless with punters, going from 9/2 out to 6/1 on track, and she finished a disappointing eighth.
Ger Lyons said afterwards: "She is tough out and wants every yard of the trip.
"It’s a good front runners track and I said to Colin, if she allows you, jump out and make it.
"She is owned by the same grouping that own Mordanmijobsworth (the RMS Racing Syndicate). Any race is hard to win but they are on a bit of a roll at the moment."
