Galway now heavy

The going at Galway, where a two-day meeting kicks off this afternoon, is now heavy on both the hurdle and chase courses following a further 8mm of rain this morning.

Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer said, "It will probably ride a bit more testing on the chase course compared with the hurdle track today. We have just two chase races today which shouldn't cause too much wear on the track, and we have sectioned off the fences to provide some fresh ground for tomorrow.

"We have about 11 to 12 yards of fresh ground for the hurdle course tomorrow."

The forecast is to clear up this afternoon with another band of rain due around lunchtime tomorrow.

The first of a seven race card this afternoon gets underway at 2.25.
