Fury makes winning 'track' debut in bumper Affordale Fury made a winning start 'under rules' when asserting late on to take the concluding bumper for Noel Meade and Pat Taaffe. The Affinisea gelding had won a point-to-point back in March before joining Meade and went to post a 5/2 shot (from 9/2 in the morning) on his racecourse bow. He was held up on the outer by Taaffe in the early stages before going to the front heading out on the final circuit. 2/1 favourite Allibaba came to dispute over two furlongs from home but Affordale Fury found plenty in the final furlong and pulled away close home for a four-and-a-half length win. Meade said:- “We bought him in Cheltenham after he won his point-to-point. “I think the softer the ground the better he’ll be and if I get my way he’ll go jumping hurdles straight away. “He’s a really nice horse, stays well and goes through the ground well.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
