Wigmore Street came from near last to first inside the final furlong to give jockey Ryan Moore a four-timer on the afternoon when landing the Paddy Power Supporting Cancer Trials Irish Cambridgeshire Handicap at the Curragh.
A winner on his racecourse debut for Simon and Ed Crisford at Kempton in December 2022, the gelding was then off for 445 days before joining Joseph O'Brien.
Beaten favourite on his reappearance at Dundalk in March, the son of American Pharoah shaped with a bit more promise when mid division on his turf debut at Naas in May.
Last of four in a Rated Race at Tipperary earlier this month, the four-year-old was sent off 22/1 for this ultra competitive late season handicap.
Held up towards rear by Moore, the eventual winner only had one horse behind him at the furlong pole. Switched to the stands side, the gelding stayed on powerfully inside the last 200 yards, getting up to beat Independent Expert and State Actor in a tight finish.
“It was the most incredible ride, he just dropped him on the line,” said O'Brien.
“Dylan felt after the last day in Tipperary that he didn't enjoy making the running so we said we'd cover him up today and see what happens.
“It was a great pot and he could either go into another handicap or go for a Listed race, it will be one or the other.
“We had hoped to go to Ascot but had a little setback before that. It's nice to get a good pot with him.”
