David Marnane has his string in great form at present as Syann (14/1) became winner No. four in as many days, as she took the second race on the card at Killarney this evening, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap over a mile and three.
Since Sunday, Marnane has managed a winner a day, with Jamesie at Fairyhouse on Sunday, Aragorn Icon here on Monday, Cool Athlete at Dundalk yesterday and now Syann this evening.
The winning daughter of Daylami, ridden by Sam James, won on her debut last August at Gowran, but failed to follow up on that win on her six starts since.
However she did finish third in a Listed contest at Galway on her second run and put in a good effort on her last start when just beaten two lengths into fourth in the Ulster Oaks at Down Royal.
The grey 4yo, came from off the pace and made her ground early in the straight. She came with her challenge between horses a furlong out and stayed on well to score by half a length at the line from Norah Starr (8/1) back in second.
The 7/4fav Sceal Nua finished a further neck back in third, while Spirit Of Cuba finished fourth after finding no room when required. Plum Sugar who finished fifth was also squeezed for room late on but she was beaten at that stage.
Winning trainer David Marnane said afterwards: "She finally dropped to a winnable mark, after being Listed placed on her second start at Galway.
"Sam (James) gave her a fantastic ride. I was a bit worried about the ground beforehand. We have no immediate plans for her now.
“Thomas McGinty from Achill Island co-owns her with Ballylinch Stud.”
