Fortune favours the Resolute Resolute Bay, under Davy Russell, ran out the fortunate winner of the Heart Of Down Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick this evening, benefitting from the final flight exit of Eirland. Eirland moved to the front and appeared to have the measure of Resolute Bay when landing awkwardly at the final obstacle, unseating Paul Carberry, and leaving the winner to score comfortably from Bandra Bullet. Winning trainer Philip Fenton was not present but Russell did mention “Resolute Bay was fortunate but deserved the win. He loves that ground and the trip was too short for his at Sligo recently.” Thomas Weekes
