Foley doubles up as bookies do their Brains in the finale Brains rolled back the years to record a 14th career win and land a gamble into the bargain in the concluding Sunday 11th May Leopardstown Family Day Handicap. The nine-year-old gelding was supported on track from 11/1 into 4/1 favourite and led early in the straight under Shane Foley, who was completing a quick double after taking the previous race on Dark Viper. Dick Donohoe’s charge was driven right out inside the final furlong and just held off the challenge of Genuine Jim by a head. Storm Eric also came home well half-a-length back in third with Si Senor completing the places in fourth. Donohoe said, “He gets his turn every so often and is a prolific winner in the past. “He’s a nine-year-old now and there is still life in him. We’ll go on for the summer with him and I’m delighted for Paul (Sweeney, owner) who is a gentleman to train for. “It’s a nice day to get a winner and he could come back as he seems to like it around here. “He’s a real pet of a horse and he was swinging there with Shane and really loving it. “He’s still enjoying life even after all the miles that he’s put up over the years.”
