Starspangledwaves showed the benefit of his debut at the Curragh just over a fortnight ago when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden in decisive fashion at Dundalk to provide trainer Pat Flynn with his 800th career winner.
The 7/1 chance bounced out of the stalls and proceeded to make all in this five-furlong event.
Conor Hoban ’s mount asserted around the furlong pole and kept on strongly to beat Smullen’s Pride by three and a quarter lengths.
The well-backed 5/4 favourite Las Cuatro showed his inexperience and never got in a blow before keeping on late to take third.
Flynn was glowing in his praise afterwards saying, "We knew from the word go that he was a very nice horse. Conor said in the Curragh that he was just pure, raw ability.
"He's a fantastic horse and as good a two-year-old as I've ever had. He did show plenty on debut and Conor said he is a machine. That's him gone for next year."
Reflecting on this milestone success he added: "You hear of fellas with 2,000 winners and that is nothing to them, but to us it is big down in Co Waterford, and a lot of driving done!"
