Flanagan completes Kilbeggan brace on impressive Deployed Sean Flanagan doubled-up in race two to win the Kilbeggan (C & G) Maiden Hurdle on Deployed. The Wexford man’s first winner was for Liz Doyle aboard Miss Cedille, and he took the reins on Deployed for his boss, Noel Meade. From the front this fellow had his rivals in trouble from some way out. He did make a mistake at the last but there was no stopping the six-year-old, coming back off a 208 day break. This was an excellent start over hurdles for the well-backed Deployed (5/1 into 7/2) as he prevailed by seven lengths from Game Socks. “I liked this horse last season and things just never went that right for him. He’s a big horse and has probably filled out into himself. He’s a chaser in time,” said Meade. “I only did one piece of work with him and let him run as last year when we worked him he’d work very well and then the next piece he mightn’t have needed it that much. “He did have a good blow there and got a bit tired in the end. His jumping fell apart over the last but in general I’d say he’s a good jumper. “He’ll probably go for a winners-of-one in three to four weeks.” (AM & EM)
