The Kevin Prendergast trained Final Approach took the concluding Maiden at The Curragh on Saturday, but only just.
The son of Pivotal hit the front inside the final furlong, but was all-out in the closing stages to hold the fast finishing Spinning Well a filly by the same sire.
Prendergast said: "He handled the ground well and was entitled to have a good chance on his previous run at Naas. I will look for a handicap for him back here over the Derby weekend."
