Fiasco for punters as Jack scores at double carpet The more galloping nature of the circuit at Punchestown saw Jack Fiasco put in an improved performance to pop up at odds of 33/1 under Robbie Power in the Download The Ladbrokes App Maiden Hurdle. He may have taken a bit of a dive at the last but from there home Jessica Harrington's Jack Fiasco was very strong to defeat fellow outsider Gigiplan Two Seven (50/1) by two and a quarter lengths. Power rode Jack Fiasco for the first time in a race on this occasion, and on his fourth outing the big Black Sam Bellamy gelding found his true form. Mrs Harrington trains the five-year-old for the Fiasco Syndicate. "He's a huge big horse and he's a big baby," said Power. "He just didn't handle the likes of Killarney and Ballinrobe." The successful handler said: "We always liked him but he was so gormless in Killarney and then in Ballinrobe Barry (Geraghty) said don't give up on him. The penny was only dropping and the track was much too sharp for him. "I knew he had improved and he jumped better today. Before he would land in a heap and wonder what had happened to himself. I'd say he will improve an awful lot on that again. "The Fiasco Syndicate includes Sam Watson, the eventer, and Ivan Hatton. They are into eventing and half-breds and it's the first racehorse they have had. At the end of the day he's going to be a chaser." A.E. Lynch, rider of Devon Knows trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very green. P. Townend, rider of Itsonlyrocknroll trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very free. A. Ring, rider of Pottsie trained by M.F.Morris, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped very quickly. Harrington, authorised representative of the trainer, report that this horse is a big immature type and felt today's galloping track appeared to bring about the apparent improvement on form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered. The Stewards enquired into an incident the closing stages involving Bakmaj (FR), ridden by D.F. O'Regan placed third and Jack Fiasco (GB), ridden by R.M. Power placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
