Fandango Boy powered away in the closing stages to take the second division of the mile handicap at Dundalk in good style.
Fran Berry hit the front two furlongs out on the Shane Broderick-trained gelding and he forged clear from the furlong pole to record a six-length win from Boynagh Joy
"He won well and and I'm very happy with him. He needs top of the ground and likes the all-weather," said Broderick by phone.
"He had a little walk up this morning and I was delighted by the way he looked. All went according to plan.
"He'll run again before the end of the season - it's just everytime he gets in.
"Hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him. He had just went off the boil a bit this year. That's his class of race and it wouldn't be fair to put him up too far."
