Fairchild gains maiden win for Trinidad based owner Sabrina Fairchild got off the mark at the fourth attempt at Dundalk this evening as the Sarah Lynam trained filly landed the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Maiden under jockey Danny Sheehy. The daughter of Elnadim had finished second at the Co Louth venue on her previous outing on October 31 and today went a placing better when beating runner-up Al Batal by a length and a quarter. The win was rookie trainer Lynam's fourth individual winner from just eight runners, and she later said “that's brilliant because it's Rishi Sooknanan's first winner in his colours; he's from Trinidad and I think he's watching on telly. “I told him she was really good and she was going well at home so I'm delighted and he'll get a good buzz out of that. “She only had one blip at Navan and we put the tongue-strap on. I think she just gets a bit buzzy and it calmed her down a little bit. She raced quite sensibly tonight and she was very good. “I was a bit scared by the Stack horse (Modern Love, finished fourth) tonight but I thought I'd take a chance and she deserved to win a maiden.” Quotes from Gary Carson
