Eyes Off Annie wins under patient O'Sullivan ride Eyes Off Annie (7/4f) benefitted from a last-to-first waiting ride from Maxine O’Sullivan to land Cork’s Rathbarry & Glenview (Mares) Hunters Chase today, scoring for trainer Ian McCarthy. Carrying the colours of the trainer’s wife Nicola, the seven-year-old mare improved to lead after the second-last and scored by three lengths from Justlikejessejames. McCarthy commented “Eyes Off Annie has had her little problems but is a right mare when on her A game. “She had small issues which kept her off the track for a long time so we needed to iron them out. She has plenty quality about her and is like a gelding, as she has so much size and scope.” “Maxine gets on well with her, has great confidence and gets her into lovely rhythms. Jockey O’Sullivan is tied with Pandora Briselden and Toni Quail at the head of point-to-point’s Ladies Championship and McCarthy added “we might aim the mare at Opens to give Maxine a hand in the championship but she could also go for the Bishopscourt Cup at Punchestown.”
