Eyecatcher lunges late for McGrath Miss Eyecatcher pounced late to grab the spoils in the concluding mares bumper at Tipperary this evening. Roger McGrath's had won a point-to-point bumper at the course a fortnight ago but looked under pressure tonight turning for home as she was ridden along in mid-division. She stayed on stoutly for Finny Maguire inside the final furlong, however, and grabbed Glendine River close home for a three-parts-of-a-length success at odds of 8/1. "Finny gave her a good ride and she's an improving mare,” said McGrath. "She'll have a summer's grass now and will come back in when there is an ease in the autumn." (Quotes by Thomas Weekes)
