Ballydoyle's €420,000-yearling Sweetest (100/30) won on her seventh attempt at Dundalk this evening, making all the running to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden under jockey Seamie Heffernan.
From the first crop of top sprinter Blue Point, Sweetest had placed in all five of her previous maiden runs and today found off 13 rivals, when beating Whispersinthewind by three-parts of a length.
Ballydoyle's representative Chris Armstrong reported “it was nice to get a win for her. She’s a filly that’s shown a lot of promise all year and it’s nice to get that winning bracket.
“Seamus and Aidan (O'Brien, trainer) felt after her run here last week it was worth giving her one more go over seven furlongs just to see if we got her trip wrong throughout the year.
“We know where we stand going forward for next year and all being well we’ll start her off in one of the Trials in the spring and she’s a filly to look forward to. No doubt she’ll develop more over the winter.
“In fairness Seamus gave her a peach. He controlled it from the front and got his own way. When he swung in, the second filly (Whispersinthewind) came to him but in fairness she kept on and maybe this is her trip.”
