Espion Du Chenet (10/1) stuck to his task well to take the two mile one handicap chase in Killarney for Louise Lyons and Ryan Treacy.
He had plenty on his plate in fifth over the third last and Treacy did a fine job in keeping the partnership intact at the next when Espion Du Chenet made a mistake and pecked badly. Silver Star did fall at that fence and badly hampered Andalusa which suddenly left Espion Du Chenet tracking Jack Holiday and Knock On Steel in third, racing to the last.
Espion Du Chenet really hit his straps on the run-in as he powered home on the inside to get up close home by a neck from Knock On Steel (12/1). Jack Holiday was the same distance away in third at 9/1 with all three horses lunging for the line.
The trainer's husband, Nicky Teehan, who also owns Espion Du Chenet said: "It is nice to see him back winning and he's been a great servant. That's his third win for us since December but he wasn't finishing his last races earlier in the summer. The boys in Fethard (Veterinary Clinic) tricked with his wind and he came on from his recent hurdle run.
"He finished his race well today so whatever was done to him during the summer seems to have helped. I thought he might need it as he looked tubby but Louise rides him out and said during the week that he needed to run.
"There is a 0-140 chase in Listowel - I'd like to get him in at the bottom as he's not the biggest horse in the world."
